NOVEMBER 2008 - On Now!
Doug Spraggett (Kelowna, BC)
"For All Time" 24" x 20"
Doug Spraggett, originally from Ontario, moved to the Okanagan Valley in the 1980's. With an oil paint set given by his wife at the age of 30, Spraggett pursued his artistic talent while doing construction work. He was recognized and was given his first solo exhibition in 1977 in North Bay Ontario. He has had work accepted in many juried exhibitions such as the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto (1966) and, Robson Square Art Show (1984).
At a glance, Spraggett's paintings come across as somewhat elementary: flat surfaces, hard edge lines, and a number of simply formed shapes make-up his work yet, looking deeper, comes meaning. Spraggett's use of color is delightful -deliberately using a complimentary mix, his imagery springs from the canvas. His imagination wonders while creating the the semi-surrealist landscapes - It really is something to see! This is a man who will be remembered as a historical mark in the art history of this Valley. After all he was the first solo artist to show at the Okanagan Artist's Alternative Studio in 1991 which was located on Gaston Ave. -in the ever changing North End.

OCTOBER 2008 - Just ended!
Noelle Nadeau is thrilled to be back in the sunny Okanagan after leaving here in 1988. Time away was spent working, travelling and being inspired by all that nature generously offers. After travelling across Canada, Noelle set up home for a couple years in Halifax, N.S. Having family on the west coast, the next natural move was to Vancouver, B.C. her home for the last several years. The coastal experiences have no doubt shaped her art and now Noelle is enjoying what is unfolding here in this drier, yet no less inspiring region. Noelle Nadeau enjoys exploring movement, emotion, surface, texture and color primarily through the means of paint in abstract form. Often beginning with an emotion or idea, the paint and mixed media lead her on a journey.

Carrie Harper grew up in Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley on vineyards and orchards! Focusing on symbols of her childhood, Carrie is currently focused largely on poppies; in realistic watercolors, as well as contemporary graphic abstractions accomplished with acrylics. Her artistic background is well-rounded with experience in illustration, graphic design, fibre art paper making, and exceptional product knowledge (from having worked at Opus). She has established a downtown studio in the last year in which she is able to execute her talent at full force.
